We found this potentially juicy quote while reading through the latest edition of Jim Wyatt mailbag. When the Tennessee Titans allowed Jonnu Smith and MyCole Pruitt to sign contracts elsewhere in free agency, fans began panicking about the emerging need at the tight end position To be fair, it easy to see why. Following those two departures, the team had little in terms of proven assets. Anthony Firkser is currently slated to start while veteran Geoff Swaim appears set for a big role as well Second year player Tommy Hudson is battling for a roster spot with rookie undrafted free agents Miller Forristall and Briley Moore. While answering fan questions on the team official website, Wyatt predicts that the team will add another tight end before the regular season kicks off. Here are the full details.Question: Hey Jim hope everything is going good and well with you and your family. I appreciate all the insight you give about the Titans. My question is do you see us adding more Edge or CB depth or try and add another offensive weapon Because I would try and sign someone like Ingram on a 1 year prove it deal around 5 million for edge depth and a veteran leadership with our younger players as well then maybe go after someone like an O Howard from Tampa via trade because. I fully believe in Farley and Molden to be exceptional rookies on defense this year thank you for all you do for all the fans out here.Jim: Hey Paul. I know the GM is always looking for ways to upgrade, and also add depth. After Kevin Johnson retirement, I can help but wonder if someone else will be added to compete. The edge position has numbers, but if someone of quality is available, I could see another guy added to the mix. I still think there will be an addition at tight end, it just a matter of who and when.Wyatt doesn pretend to have any extra insight into these things anymore, especially since he works for the team now. But he in that building daily, and a statement such as t just a matter of who and when is certainly intriguing.Between the free agent pool and potential trade options, players such as Zach Ertz, Jesse James, Tyler Eifert or Trey Burton could be available. If the team adds a tight end, I of the opinion that a one dimensional pass catcher such as Ertz doesn make a lot of sense. Firkser is your pass catcher and Swaim is your run blocker. If this team is adding a tight end, it should be one with more versatility than the current players at the position have.Do you want to see the Titans add a tight end If so, who do you have in mind

HOUSTON -- Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio has a plan. The ultimate goal Davis Mills is the long-term answer at quarterback.Mills, who was drafted No. 67 overall out of Stanford, is expected to be in the running for Texans starting quarterback job for years to come. After all, Houston wouldnt use its first pick in the NFL Draft if they didnt think his skills would transfer over.RightMills, the team recent third-round selection, will have one season to prove he the right answer under center. If all goes according to plan, he should win the job over Tyrod Taylor at some point and prove his skills will be the ones needed at NRG Stadium. If that the case, Caserio can turn his attention to the 2022 NFL Draft by fixing the defense. However, Mills in this scenario will have shown enough to where Caserio would be willing to pass on UNC Sam Howell, Oklahoma Spencer Rattler or Liberty Malik Willis.Instead, Houston fixes its pass rush by adding Oregon star Kayvon Thibodeaux. The junior Ducks defensive end started the 2020 season off slow, but the motor kicked into high gear for the close. He recorded at least one sack and four pressures in the final three outings, plus he tallied at least five tackles.Earlier this offseason, NFL Network Daniel Jeremiah comparedThibodeaux to former Dallas Cowboys great DeMarcus Ware. This season, it is expected for the 6-foot-5 defender to play a more hybrid role of both a three-point stance and a standing nine-tech to better his chances at pressuring the quarterback.READ MORE:Texans 2022 NFL Draft: Will Kayvon Thibodeaux Be DeMarcus Ware 2.0Ware became a pass-rush student and constantly added to his game, improving along the way. Ross, who was projected to be a first-round pick entering 2020, missed all last season due toa congenital fusion condition of his neck and spine that required surgery. As reported by All Clemson Owen Watterson, Ross will see more reps in the slot. For Houston, this would be a no-brainer to pair with Brandin Cooks and rookie Nico Collins on the outside for years to come.Mills has the pressure riding on him, but Houston has faith in the new gunslinger. As the COVID-19 pandemic rages on, and NHL has adjusted more than their standard operating procedures to try to pull off a healthy, safe season. On top of restrictions on who has access to players, limits on the size of travel parties for road games, where players can and can go on the road, and other similar measures, they league has had to devise an easy way around something well beyond their control: border crossing restrictions.Because the NHL had to put all of the Canadian teams into one division in order to even get a season off the ground, that forced some realignment within the U.S. For the new Central Division, they got the biggest changes a mix of East and West, new and old. One thing Dallas Stars fans can be excited about is not having a slate full of 8:30/9:30 PM local time starts by being forced out to the west coast a boon to our collective sleep schedules.Wee kicked off a series here at SB Nation to introduce each team within the new Central by posing five simple questions to each of our new mates about their team:1) How would you describe your team style of play2) What players should opposing fans know the name of - and why3) Why could your team win the division4) Why could your team be the caboose of the division5) On a scale of baby kitten to Tiger King, what the potential of the heated matchup of your team with your new division matesToday intelligence briefing comes courtesy of Winging It In Motown, where they had to sit through one of the worst seasons in modern history. The team not only earned only 39 points last season, they even somehow managed to not have a top three draft pick this offseason for the effort. The WIIM crew described their team as ind of like the person who excitedly leaps onto the dance floor and tries to flop into doing the worm but instead smashes their face on the ground and is immediately knocked unconscious.  They also didn pass up a chance to remind Stars fans that they were part of the team spiraling start to last season:You might think that rekindled division/conference rivalries with Columbus (never won a playoff game against Detroit), Dallas (some fun late 90 disdain) or Nashville (screw you, Shea Weber) would also be pretty fun and there a good chance of that. Detroit gave Dallas a nice punch to the nose to start last year and that put an awful shock into that fanbase. This season theyl have a chance to do similar things, but I think mostly these teams are going to be worried about bigger things.Check out more on what we can expect in the eight games the Stars will play against the Detroit Red Wings here. Genel Sohbet / Zach Parise: Problem or a Positive
« : 03 Temmuz 2021, 03:19:37 »
When Zach Parise chose to sign with the Minnesota Wild in July 2012, it was an exciting time to be a Minnesota Wild fan. The hometown boy was coming back to the state of hockey to help bring a cup to the frequently let down fanbase. The goal-scoring forward had consistently put the puck in the net in previous years, breaking the thirty-goal benchmark in five of his previous seven seasons. Fast forward nine years and the now 35 year old veteran has eclipsed 30 goals only once, with four full remaining seasons at a cap hit of $7,538,461 AAV. This was largely due to health issues sidelining the high level player. Without these health issues, Parise would have been likely to reach more respectable goal totals. However, the former Devils captain play has come into question recently In 25 games this season, the left wing has scored three goals and assisted on nine for a total of 12 points. Additionally, he was recently scratched by coach Dean Evason and has his lowest Corsi For percentage, 43, since entering the league. This is all while being the highest paid forward on the Wild by a margin of $1,538,461. To make matters more complex, the structure of his contracts has brought about the threat of cap recapture penalties in the event of an early retirement. In the defense of the hard-working winger, his line pairing have fluctuated frequently, often leaving him without a true number one or two center. A problem faced by all wingers on the top Wild lines. He has had less support and less ice time when compared to previous years. The former UND forward has also posted a shooting percentage of only 5.6%, the lowest of his career. This, combined with the lack of power play time and success that has helped him put up numbers in the previous years of his career, suggests that he may be getting unlucky. Hopefully, he will return to his normal self. If not, the Minnesota Wild have an issue.

Genel Sohbet / Should the Jets trade for Mackenzie Weeger
« : 03 Temmuz 2021, 03:18:26 »
The Winnipeg Jets appear to be doing what smart teams would do and are listening to offers on all their young forwards in hopes of improving their defence This was my main complaint when the Patrik Laine and Nikolaj Ehlers rumours started: they should also have Kyle Connor in play. They now appear to have him available for the right price.Elliotte Friedman: e heard some rumblings about the Jets potentially being interested in Mackenzie Weegar ... Kyle Connor is probably gonna get moved ... I heard the Minnesota Wild have some interest in Ryan-Nugent Hopkins too. This is what a smart team will do: they will listen to offers on any player. That does not mean that they are shopping those players, just that they will listen to your offers and consider ones that are good Weeger is interesting because he appears to be a genuinely good true-blue defensive defenceman. As someone who does not watch the Florida Panthers play unless I have to, I do not know if he lacks general puck-moving ability or just does not need it in Florida, but Weeger is an actual good player from the looks of it. As you can see, Weeger is damn good especially after the three games he played as a rookie. The only issue is that the Jets need to make sure he can move the puck even though he is not a big points producer because they do not necessarily have the best puck movers on defence themselves. But Weeger would be an improvement for the Jets period. The Jets are also listening to offers for Kyle Connor which is all that some of us asked of them. It is not certain they will trade any of Connor, Laine, or Ehlers, but having it known that they are listening to offers is good. As for Weeger, he is also good.

Genel Sohbet / Sammy Blais placed on NHL Covid-19 protocol list
« : 03 Temmuz 2021, 03:08:42 »
Sammy Blais was expected to be in tonight on the third line Erik Foley Pet Jersey. Instead, during warm-ups, Mackenzie MacEachern was slotted in his place, and Austin Poganski was placed on the fourth line in MacEachern place. WhySammy Blais is now on the NHL active COVID-19 protocol list. StLBlues forward Sammy Blais added to NHL COVID protocol list along with NYR forward Kaapo Kakko. He the first member of the Blues to be placed on the list since the start of the season, which allowed the Blues to have the distinction of being the only American team without a player who has missed time due to possible COVID exposure. The full protocol for players on the list can be found here. Roughly, it means that if a player is placed on the list, he has either had contact with a positive person, has a possible positive exposure, or actually has COVID-19.The Tampa Bay Times has a solid breakdown of what this all means if a player tests positive for the virus. If a player receives a positive test, they must self-isolate immediately and the team begins contact tracing. The player is then given another test, and if they continue to test positive, they continue to isolate. If the player second test is negative, the player must test negative for two for two more consecutive days to be removed from the list. If a suspected close contact, the player must test negative for two straight days and show no symptoms.
